Long Term Grammy Museum Exhibit to Celebrate the Life of John Coltrane

A new long-term exhibit at Los Angeles' Grammy Museum celebrating the life and work of John Coltrane is set to open on November 17th. The exhibit, titled 'Chasing Trane: John Coltrane's Musical Journey Transcended' will include rare footage, manuscripts, instruments and other ephemera. Smithsonian to Document Hip Hop History in 300 Page Anthology and CD Set

The Smithsonian is teaming up with the National Museum of African American History and Culture to curate a book documenting the history and evolution of Hip Hop culture. The 300 page book will contain 10 essays from contributors including Public Enemy's Chuck D and MC Lyte alongside archival photogrpahy and will be accompanied by a set of 9 CDs containing more than 120 tracks. On Sunday 15th October WhoSampled hosted the third edition of Samplethon at Point Blank Studios in East London in collaboration with EMI Production Music's KPM label and with support from Ableton.
