Interpolations of lyrics are allowed on this site.

It might be a reference but that doesn't make it a sample, right?

I did a Google search and damn near every music critic seems to think that it is a clever reference to Rump Shaker. Maybe they are reading to much into it and whether it was intentional by M.I.A. is unclear. But M.I.A. is a hip-hop artist pretty much and often makes such references. Sheryl Crow is a funny example but based on her track record it would be highly unlikely.

hehe, nice one potrod, that's exactly what I said, even including the Sheryl Crow example! :)

I vote for no way this is a sample or interpolation. The only similarity are the words, "All I wanna do". And the inflection isn't even that similar. And if you're going to base a sample on 4 words, than this site is going to get swamped with fake samples. You might as well add Sheryl Crow to this sample chain with "All I Wanna Do".

We here at the WhoSampled team are not 100% convinced that this reference by M.I.A. was intentional, but other users seem to think so. Our moderator "What's The F.U.S.S?" sent enough convincing evidence from across the web to show that many people think this was intentional, so we've decided to include it on the site and see what everyone else thinks. Thoughts anyone?

I know that this is meant to be a sample/cover whatever because I heard an unreleased song of hers where she sampled this same song. Also, I dunno about you, but I feel to anyone who's heard Rump Shaker it's really obvious that it's the chorus.
