I listened to both tracks, and i'm pretty convinced that this is a repayed/re-sung vocal sample, because M.I.A. sounds different on "Paper Planes" as compared to "Swagga Like Us" when she sings the lyrics "No one on the corner had a swagger like us". On "Paper Planes, her voice sounds strong & clear, but on "Swagga Like Us, her voice sounds like it was recorded in an arena (which may very well be the case). Also, Jay-Z & Lil' Wayne re-raps/re-sings the vocal element along with M.I.A., which is why this is actually an interpolation and NOT a direct sample. Don't beleive me, then check the video for the 2009 Grammys. |

Pretty Good, although i Think that the vocals are actually re-sung by M.I.A. (Sounds that way), cause the vocals on the 2 tracks sound dramatically different. Plus, M>I>A> performed "Swagga Like Us" aat the grammy awards of 2009 with T.I., Jay-Z, Kanye West, & Lil' Wayne. |
