Ah. I'm of the opinion that "Alphabet Song is an interpolation of Baa Baa Black Sheep" would be a perfectly valid thing to have on the site, if information about the composers existed etc. I know there has to be a limit, and we can't consider every popular 4/4 rhythm or chord progression an "interpolation", but this is a distinct melody. |

Yes, I know that, too. But to DtotheAVIS's point, if you don't weigh in that there's a possibility that the artist had a connection to the original song, then we'll have to make entries for the ABC song and baa baa black sheep. You have to draw the line somewhere. If Justice had no connection to Britney Spears then I would have joined the side of having this entry removed. |

That's a nice wall of text, man, but no one's saying it's a direct sample. We know that. It's an interpolation of the vocal line. |

There is substantial evidence that links Justice to Britney Spears before the release of Cross: http://www.discogs.com/Britney-Spears-B-In-The-Mix-The-Remixes/release/569903 Note that the song in question is the song being remixed so it is highly probable that Justice borrowed the melody after they had remixed "Me Against the Music" to be used later in their own track. We know also that kids were auditioned and did perform the song (http://www.discogs.com/Justice--Cross/release/1582160) so that rules out more possibilities of there being an actual sample behind this. Also, the release date of Britney's B-sides collection is Nov. 22, 2005, 1½ years before Cross. The link is definitely strong but there's no confirmation from the artists involved. |

I think the link is strong enough and interesting enough to stay on the database. |

It's a interpolation; the melody is taken but the lyrics are different. |

there is no direct anything here, all i hear is the same rhythm or melody, no words, but this can be said about the alphabet song vs. BA BA black sheep and twinkle twinkle little star. i think this submission should be pulled in all fairness. |

Fette, it's an interpolation, not a direct sample. |
