The backwards beat is part of either the actual track or from a generic sample kit, I have it for the Ejay software series. I can think of at least a dozen tracks with that in, it was the norm for euphoric trance to have that "sample" or effect in during 1999-2000 ish.

@SmuttySy can you listen to this one at 0.39 this reminds me of Mauro Picotto's Komodo intro (which came later)... I'm guessing both just played their beats backwards? Or are they both sampling something?
