He didn't sample 2pac he sampled Pee-Wee's dance. The 2pac record isn't open enough to sample but the record 2pac sampled for the drum loop is |

@Bboom Bap: In that other “I Wonder” submission that apparently got removed now, you wrote, that the album booklet said, the track was sampling Ambitionz Az A Ridah, right? It seems like the content of the album booklet was put on the discogs release page of Graduation [1]. There is no mentioning of 2Pac or Daz Dillinger (who Produced Ambitionz Az A Ridah). I can only say, that the 2Pac track does not have any spot, where anyone could extract a clean snare sample from. At least I could not find one… There always is either 2Pac’s voice, the Keys, or a Violin sound on top of the snare, rendering it not suitable for a clean snare sample, like you can hear it in Kanye’s song (@ roughly 3:20 in Kanye’s song you can create a clean drumloop). My guess is, that the snare either is a sample from some kind of sample CD/drum machine, or a “regular” snare which was processed by a Compressor. Even all those “recreated” instrumentals of Ambitionz Az A Ridah (just google “Ambitionz Az A Ridah instrumental”) on the internet by hobby producers have the almost identical snare sound like the 2Pac and Kanye West song. IMHO this is in no way a *direct* sample of 2Pac’s song. :-) [1] http://www.discogs.com/kanYeWest-Graduation/release/1076860 |

@pano What do you think about this: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/95975/ Could the loop for both songs have come from that? |

hmm… I am not sure this really is a (direct) sample^^ The snare does sound similar, but there is no place in the 2Pac track where the drums could have been cleanly sampled from… I listened to the whole song and also took a look at it in Audacity and could not locate any place that may be suitable… |

Me neither, And he isn't destroying the magic of the original 2PAC song he sampled in the process :) |
