I hear the influence in the rhythm from Hayes' song like Sil said, but no direct sample. Maybe just those few notes. I just gotta say though, Isaac is the f***ing man. |

if it is not a a sample but an interpolation, I don't think it is there. Replayed at the same speed, sure interpolatioon maybe, but it 2-3 times quicker. and sounds different. If the sample was from 20iish seconds into the isaac track I could possibly believe it. as it then includes the background music which I can almost pretend to hear, but just the up and down bit? nahhh |

So would you say that Snoop - O.G (Original Version) also samples Issac Hayes? i slowed the track down and it sounds like it to me. |

I think the part when the notes go up and down is a purposeful interpolation |

Sil van Liere said on Saturday, 19 June 2010:
Hayes was definitely a big influence on them, but they did not sample him here. |

Jae Stylez said on Friday, 18 June 2010:
regardless of how the sample was used, the truth is Snoop Dogg and the the dogg pound grew up with great music like Isaac Hayes, and when they made the beat for "Ain't No Fun" they were influenced by the sound and clearly tried to imitate it :) |

Sil van Liere said on Friday, 18 June 2010:
...beacause the only similarity is the notes going up and down for two counts. |

Sil van Liere said on Friday, 18 June 2010:
I think the Hayes track has strings, but it could be an oboe or bassoon, I dunno. Anyway, in the Hayes track you only hear one tone, apart from the fast parts where the notes go up and down. In Snoops track you hear five different tones before the notes go up and down at the end of every second measure. So I think this can't be a direct sample. I wouldn't even call it an interploration |

well yes that was also what was throwing me off, I couldn't think of what instrument could be playing it in Isaac's track, if not for strings.... Part of me thinks it's the same and I can hear it, and the other part of me strongly disagrees heh |

MrBlondNYC said on Friday, 18 June 2010:
String arrangments are credited on Hayes's album and I don't think they had Casios back then. |

tick said on Friday, 18 June 2010:
hmm I can hear it now, but I'm struggling to convince myself they are the same...Sounds too much like strings on the snoop track,,, |

MrBlondNYC said on Friday, 18 June 2010:
I changed the time to where you can hear it more clearly. Keep listening for about 10-15 seconds. |

Which bit is it? I assume it can only be the bit from Isaac Hayes that wiseguys use... Can't hear that at all in the snoop track.... ? |

MrBlondNYC said on Thursday, 17 June 2010:
You're not talking about the main melody right? Like I said it's buried in the background. It sounds the same to me. |

Sil van Liere said on Thursday, 17 June 2010:
That's not a direct sample, an interploration at most |
