Interesting! It definitely sounds like Naughty by Nature jacked the concept of Tony D's beat, but they didn't just use it as-is, they've recreated it and their version is more polished. I think the most accurate way to show this would still be to list this one as it is, and add an entry for Tony D sampling ABC too. This would show that Tony D sampled ABC first, and whoever has a listen will see that it was sampled in the same way. If this would have been a straight off direct use of Tony D's beat, I'd say we should list it as a sample chain, but this isn't the case here. What does everyone else think? |
