As stated on Wikipedia, Indiggo Twins have worked with Swizz Beatz who produced "Murder To Excellence" and who worked with the twins on their composition LA LA LA. Everybody can get inspired from traditional folk, it's like air, we all can breathe it in. As a matter of fact Wikipedia also stated: "Mihaela and Gabriela's compositions from this project are inspired by the Romanian folklore and their quality has led those who heard them consider the Indiggo Twins "ambassadors of the great Romanian tradition" (as seen in Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch The Throne' s booklet)." BTW, Harry Belafonte inspired himself from the Jamaican folk song "Banana" and he made it a world-wide hit!!! It is indeed his merit that he made that song successful and made Jamaican folk renowned. Moreover Indiggo twins' LA LA LA has lovely verses and lyrics which are a great counterpoint to the dramatic feel of their LA LA LA chanting in the chorus! |

Shouldnt we list the capalana sample instead? Its pretty obviously the song being sampled here. |

Indiggo Twinns are the credited source. |

That youtube link below is the exact same video used for the "Traditional Folk" song "Fetele De La Capalna". So, you might as well say that "Murder to Excellence" is directly sampled from that song. |

I even managed to sample it the exact same way. |

Vocals on this one are clearer and sounds more like the one from "Murder to Excellence" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3r0AsEB8gM |

Stems are the individual elements of a track mixed down to separate distinct tracks: vocals only, bass only, etc etc |

What is a "Stem"? |

i really doubt kanye got the stems for it. if you pay attention to the drums, they're hitting at the same points the original sample would. it's basically just a combination of good EQing and blending. |

I don't think it was rerecorded. It's at the point now where Kanye can call someone up and get their stems no problem. Must be nice. |

Indiggo Twins' LA LA LA is the original credited song from where Jay-Z and Kanye West sampled on "Murder to Excellence"; it is the compostion of Mihaela and Gabriela Modorcea a.k.a. Indiggo Twins who own the copyright. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT5_EB4OMuU Please, take out the video above and place Indiggo twins' LA LA LA. Enough promotion on behalf of the Indiggo Twins. |

It's an image manipulation made by taking the top half of Kanye's head and using Photoshop or some other digital software to attach the lower half of Jay-Z's head to it. |

Whose picture is that on the video for "Murder To Excellence"? Is it Jay-Z with a bush, or is it a Clean-shaven Kanye West? |

@marioharvey yeah I think you're right that could well be the version. |

marioharvey said on Thursday, 08 December 2011:
Its pretty much a loop with some instruments played over to accentuate and bring the loop together. The guitar and the buzz saw bass make it sound real big. Here is what I think is the real sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3r0AsEB8gM |

I think the name of the song is called Fetele De La Căpâlna. I don't know who performed it but it seems Fetele De La Căpâlna is a Romanian folk song that means "Girls from Capalna". |

never mind no reply needed, the break featured on drum crazy is from "The Sorcerer of Isis" by The Power of Zeus. Thanks anyway though |

Kirsh. said on Tuesday, 23 August 2011:
I figured out where i knew the break from, it's not Don't Change Your love but it's a drum break featured on Drum Crazy Vol. 3. - "North Side" (Side A?) Track 1. But are we allowed to submit albums released as DJ/production tools? |

Kirsh. said on Monday, 22 August 2011:
Ha sounds like Quincy samples Bob James Nautilus at 1:24. I don't hear the drums coming from here but I think the vocal parts at the same section in Murder to Excellence @ 2:30, probably came from this song off of The Color Purple soundtrack. They were probably chopped up with an mpc, pitch shifted and filtered. actually pretty damn dope. |

Never thought of it but it would look sick all beibered out wouldn't it? Hmmm. There's another sample mentioned though and it might be where they got the drums from. Not sure. See if you can find anything: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ci8KKr5zV0 |

Kirsh. said on Monday, 22 August 2011:
Yeah i hear ya, Jay. I was sort of pulling teeth to get a comment about the drums. I'm of no help with the Indiggo bit. nice profile pic change by the by though; I'm a big pun fan. you ever thought of biebering it though? |
![]() |
Jay Gumb$ said on Monday, 22 August 2011:
To be honest, I think this is what they sampled. I just want to hear what others have to say because of the album credits thing. I can't find anything at all about Indiggo and Lalala which is why I figured maybe they re-sung it. |
![]() |
Kirsh. said on Monday, 22 August 2011:
Hmm if they resung Lalala then they really did a good production job because it sounds like direct with the right amount of reverb and such. What about the drums though...at 2:29 I think it sounds like Don't Change Your Love by the 5 Stairsteps or maybe an mpc flipped Synthetic Substitution. Any thoughts? |
![]() |
Jay Gumb$ said on Monday, 22 August 2011:
Is it really direct? Because according to the album credits, Indiggo was either sampled or they resung Lalala. I don't think the details are correct for the original either. |
