this is one of the best ive ever heard
Basically the pitch is the frequency of the note you hear. You can use software to make the frequency higher or lower. That's how Kanye West gets that "chipmunk" sound on songs like "Through the Fire" and "Slow Jamz". Or what Just Blaze did on "U Don't Know" or "Soon You'll Understand". That's why you keep thinking its someone else singing on these songs because the sound of their voices have been made to sound higher.
What does "Pitched Up" mean?
Are you not familiar with samples being pitched up? It's a fairly simple process that's done all the time especially by Kanye West.
The vocals/lyrics from Max Romeo's "Chase The Devil" are definitely Re-sung on "Lucifer", most likely by either John Legend, or one of the other back-up singers that appeared on other Kanye west-pproduced tracks from Jay-Z's "The Black Album", because the lyrics from "Chase The Devil" are sung in a very different style as compared to the same lyrcis sung on "Lucifer"

Kanye West feat. Charlie Wilson's Bound 2 sample of Brenda Lee's Sweet Nothin's
