is it then in your interest to reduce the volume of audience able to listen to the entries?

i guess it's the audience which the site and the submitters are catering for, not vice versa

it's only logical to impose some limits on submitters for the sake of general good of the audience

There are cases in which Spotify is the most widely available source and cases in which Youtube is the most widely available source. We seek to select the most appropriate dependent on the circumstances. It is not in anyone's interests to reduce the number properly licensed streaming sources we support.

Chris, reporting these doesn't make sense as they will keep popping up unless excluded from content acceptable sources list

the submitters just don't bother to ensure their entry worldwide accessibility

it took me 5 mins to find it elsewhere

The stream providers we support (Youtube, Spotify etc) are those which are properly licensed and generate per-play income for the artists and labels. Where there is a choice of streams, we seek to provide those which offer the content in the most locations but you will appreciate that we cannot guarantee all streams are available in all locations. If you encounter streams which are blocked or unavailable and you can find a suitable and reliable alternative online, we would encourage you to report this to the support team using the red links. Posting comments on specific entries on the site is not the way to address these issues.

    Many thanks,

u know what, copyright has been detrimental to sampling, so i find it kinda ironic that a website dedicated to sampling is associated with web resources who restrict access to content on copyright grounds

not sure about the 'bonus' theory, sounds more like an explanation you found for yourself to be able to live this kind of inconvenience

    Whosampled creed is this:

"It aims not only to be the most comprehensive, detailed and accurate database of samples, remixes and covers on the web but also a fun and engaging place to be at. "

so the fun part is something the site falls a bit short of

i guess YT isn't as wholesale on blocking content geographically as Spotify and many other US online media services, so we can keep it for now, he-he

Eventhough I understand your frustration, a LOT of youtube videos are blocked for me, should we ban Youtube as well? WhoSampled is a database for you to check information, the fact that you can actually LISTEN to the track is an (awesome) added bonus. The fact these tracks are blocked for you is either Spotify's fault or the copyrights. I too get frustrated with not being able to listen to a track but usually rage at the artist for being so stuck up about copyrights to block it in my country. With the internet now anyone can just check out any song that comes to mind (even all that obscure s***). That for me makes up for those few tracks I can't find or listen to. Also if you really want to make your opinion clear about this matter a Forum Post might be a better way to go, who knows, maybe half of the users here hate Spotify and you'll get lots of responses, although I doubt it. (Have you tried looking these tracks up on the less legit Grooveshark?)
