@Xanadu: I think Smutty is just talking about a comment on the regular youtube version, no special video

There's also a less obvious sample from Edwin's version at 2:55/2:56 which is where the initial loop of the intro to the Daft Punk one comes from.
(Not my own personal find, came across this on a Youtube video)

Walter, I have questions about one of your submissions in the queue. Is there another way I can reach you?

For me, this discussion shows a bit the weak spot of WhoSampled. It's so huge, I think many people don't know where to start. I like the idea of the frontpage nominees, but with that behind, there's only Top Rated Samples & Covers. A nice touch, but for my taste, too much focused on obscurities mostly... (also, I don't see many changes there). The songs DJ Anubis sums up here are very good examples for starting out. I can think of many others like Hayes-Portishead, Chi-Lites-Beyonce, Light-Lopez, Reverberi-Barkley, etc waiting to be revealed, but now all hidden in Sample Forest.

now there's one I was hoping for too, but haven't requested yet... (suggestions -> contact Whosampled on the bottom of the page)

I'll abuse this page to request a preview function for videos in the submission form. When a song is already in the database, it would be nice to see the video (or audio). Especially useful when adding samples to get the timing right.

If you mean something like a forum, I believe Spinks & Kid Who were working on that one, but that is indeed the most urgently needed feature here. Also suggested private messaging (to not publicly humiliate each other when we notice typos and stupid things like that ^^) But any suggestions are welcome.

I'm gonna "nominate" a general discussions page!

Good idea, feel free to "nominate" it, using the 'contact Whosampled' feature.

Speaking of this song, how about front paging Kanye West's sampling of the Daft Punk song? It's a pretty famous use of a sample.

Just noticed the original doesn't have the video of the official record company... so not sure if it will be featured... Others I remember nominating: MIA - The Clash, Fugees - Enya, Estelle - Will.i.am, Luniz - Club Nouveau... All samples that are very clear, not known by everybody, and deserve some more attention if you ask me :)

Plus the video works outside the USA :) Any sample by Daft Punk is worth mentioning at the frontpage, really.

*Nominated for front page: huge hit, very clear sample in the beginning, and not everybody knows this link
