I can for the life of me not find the sampled used for
"Suppose she never takes me by the hand, suppose i never find that promised land".
as far as i know the beat is only 20 sec long, and was never used by anyone when he was alive.

I've really spent a long time looking for it. Does anyone have an idea what song he took it from?

@Bboombap

Dilla did not want his name to be on that production eventhough he produced it..... He was not robbed off ;-)

RIP dilla dawg......

J Dilla is such a legend!

LΛZER said on Saturday, 12 February 2011:
@Bboom Bap: J.D. used the airhhorn or the "dilla beats" voice, because he wanted to mark his beats, because some people back then "jacked" his beats and even nowadays (Drake, Wiz, ...).

It's for better identification for the listeners that it is by him and not by somebody else.

Good look trying to find audio sources for some of them. Stones Throw is always pulling them from youtube, not just his beat tape stuff but anything of Dilla's on the ST label. I think there just mad they can't make money off 'em. Dilla's "official" discography on the ST website dosen't acknowledge Jay Stay Paid ('09) which was mostly compiled of Dilla's beat tapes. Btw Dilla produced Janet Jackson's "Got 'Till It's Gone", look it up, he was robbed of the credits. Please credit Dilla for this.

It does get confusing when it comes to Dilla instrumentals. I'll try to find a few that I remember need correcting.

Bboom Bap said on Tuesday, 16 November 2010:
@Kid Who: That's cool. Btw the reason Dilla used the airhorn in Mantonix "King Of The Beats" is because he was the king of the beats :) Also Kidwho, MF Doom's "Gazillion Ear" samples Dilla's instrumental "Phantom Of The Synths" which I have entered in the data base.

@Everyone If you're submitting any Dilla produced entries after '06 please do a little research and see if the artist is simply rapping over one of Dilla's instrumentals from his '05 Beat CD Beat tapes. There's alot of entries on here that credit the original artist instead of Dilla's instrumental as the sampling artist.

Can you dig up my old ATCQ/Jagger the Dagger submissions?

kidwho said on Tuesday, 16 November 2010:
To all users who have been submitting entries for Dilla with the Mantronix siren samples - we've reviewed this situation and have now decided to allow these submissions. Please disregard the previous rule we made about only listing one instance per album - we are now allowing all instances to be submitted. This goes for all other similar cases as well. I am currently doing a cleanup and approving the submissions for these from the users who submitted them first. If you have any questions please contact us via the Support email. Thanks!
