An answer worth waiting for... thanks. |

Claude Ganem (aka Claude Morgan), writer of 'El Bimbo', has written to us to clarify that he is the original writer of the song, which was released in 1974. Ahmad Zahir's version is a cover that was released in 1977. We've now fixed the page accordingly. Thanks Claude! |

Yes, he does a few cover versions, that's why I'm so suspicious. Please don't report yet. I wouldn't mind leaving this song link as it is now, who knows someone might come along with the answer. Thanks. |

That's a fair point you're raising. Did try to obtain some actual proof - but none was readily available. It seems Zahir did do quite a bit of cover versions, so it might very well be the other way round too. Bimbo Jet's Wiki page does give Tanha Shodam Tanha as the original version, but still I'm starting to think I was too hasty with this one. If I won't be able to find any solid proof, I'll report it tomorrow. |

Okay, this was rumoured for years on the internet and it is very plausible, I admit. BUT is there actual proof? Like a release year on a Zahir label or record sleeve. Isn't it strange that Zahir's wiki page doesn't even mention this song? |
