I did some research and Vann claims their version was recorded first years earlier. If you were to submit it, I would suggest submitting as being covered by Pitney. |

@DJ Anubis: For Gene Pitney, I rely on a recent spoken interview with author Mark Barkan himself. The song on the album was then still called Flamingo. @MrBlondNYC: I have the Tommy Vann version, but according to various sources, it was only a regional hit in Baltimore several months after Manfred Mann's. I sent Dick at the originals project an e-mail. |

Apparently Pitney's was recorded first but the first recording was by a band named Tommy Vann and The Echoes. If anyone can find it then this can be changed. |
