Prioi to this week, i had no idea that Chaka Khan's "Papillion" was a cover version. My Mom introducedme to Miss. Khan's version of the song when i was in middle school (in the early 2000s, since i wasn't born until 9 years after miss. Khan came out with her version of "Hot Butterfly". Anyway, i also like the bluesy harmonica solos, the "Papillion" vocal harmonies, and the guitar riff on Chaka Khan's "Papillion/Hot Butterfly", and the jazzy intro, backing music, and vocal harmonies on Gregg Diamond and Bionic Boogie's version of "Hot Butterfly". |

Both tracks sound excellent. Luther Vandross did an excellent job singing lead on Gregg Diamond's "Hot Butterfly". it's also worth mentioning that Both Luther and Cissy Houston (one of the backing vocalist for "Hot Butterfly") actually sang back-up vocals on Chaka Khan's version as well. I love both tracks, because both of these tracks are classics. songs do not get made like this anymore. |
