Actually the song was written by MJ and Paul Anka.
MJ recorded a demo version which has been used in the album called 'Michael' released after MJ's death. The producers of the album used that old demo and remixed it for the purpose of the album (MJ has nothing to do with this "remix" nor the album).
("Funny" story, the producers didn't even know that the song was co-written by Paul Anka so Paul has to claim his rights after the release of the song. This was settled by both parties without any trial.)

Since MJ didn't used that song in his albums, he gave the song to Safire who recorded it and released the song in her own album.
By the way, the real title of the original song (ie. MJ's song) is 'I've Never Heard'.

okay well, i complained about this submittion and the moderator told me the only reason it's mj that covered safire is cuz the song was released in 2009 and safire's was released in 1991 but i still think that demos should still count as released because on MJtunes.com you see the dates that the song demos have been made and it should still count for sumthing.

Normally, I say in these cases that how time and space actually work should take precedent over which song was released first. If this was the demo that Jackson recorded in 1982 than he couldn't have covered Safire because it would be physically impossible. BUT in this case, they took Jackson's demo and added vocals and instruments so actually, this isn't the demo from 1982 and it would be physically impossible for Sa-Fire to have covered this version. So I guess we can just leave it as is until we have an "alternate version" entry type which would be more accurate.

A demo is not a release. So since Safire got to release it first then Jackson covered a song that he has song writing credits for. That's how I see it.
