Frank did an amazing job, screw copyright BS
I love how samples are always "stolen" if the source isn't obscure, but cover are lauded "tributes."
a******s at WMG started the fight. Well can't say they didn't warn a brother.
New development:http://www.avclub.com/articles/don-henley-apparently-wasnt-planning-to-sue-frank,70190/"I didn’t make a dime off that song. I released it for free. If anything I’m paying homage.”
Releasing your music for free is the way forward, especially when labels display this kind of c***ish behavior. I hope Frank doesn't roll over on this one. He's not using the sample for commercial gain or personal profit.
Yeah that's what I thought too lol. WMG (a******s) claimed on the Youtube clips too.
It's a free mixtape so Henley is not entitled to a dime. The best he could do is to scare Ocean into pulling the mixtape from his website which I think has happened.
Don Henley of Eagles threatened to sue Frank Ocean for using this uncleared sample:http://www.theboombox.com/2012/02/29/frank-ocean-hotel-california-lawsuit/
