Mr Blonde. Trife Thieves (Originally "Drastic Measures") was released circa 1997 in conjunction with an early lineup of the group Indigenous Tribe. D12 had nothing to do with it. The lyric "erase my face with white-out..." does not come from the song I just mentioned. It is not a mash-up...it is the original.

From the top of my head? The white-out line came from that Rawkus Soundbombing Complilation. Could have very well been recycled from some other source though. Things were moving fast for him at that time.

If anyone would like a full copy of the Indigenous Tribe EP that has that song...I'd be glad to send the original along via e-mail.

No. If you submit it I'm submitting my cover of My Name Is...

I'm just going to stick this here for now.

It's an awesome cover of The Real Slim Shady by Kate Miller-Heidke, a classically trained singer. Saw it live at Peats Ridge Festival over new years.

Doesn't look like it has been released anywhere though so I can't really submit it, as much as I want to.

Can I?

I know that line from The Anthem. Like BlondNYC said, most likely its from there.

MrBlondNYC said on Thursday, 23 December 2010:
Trife Thieves was first but most likely it's from The Anthem. Trife Thieves was a local underground release by D12 while The Anthem was played nationally. The other songs are mash-ups.

Eminem fans? I need your help... I have a clear Em vocal "This place is my house I might as well erase my face with white out".. A lyric search gives me tons of different titles, which one is it or was first?? The Anthem, Our House, I'm Retarded, 4 Verses, It's Murda (Cable Guy remix), Trife Thieves...
The song in question is Drokz' Stealing Yo Sh*t, but believe me, you won't like it (neither do I)

Well, just looked at all the Millie Jackson albums that have an article on Wikipedia, and none have a track called I Don't Love You. Tried grooveshark, and nothing. Another sorta thing like this is on the Encore article, where it says Yellow Brick Road samples Funkin Lesson by X Clan and Vocal Planet by Spectrasonic. Can't find the Vocal Planet track (If there is one).

Jay Gumbs said on Thursday, 11 November 2010:
Does Millie Jackson even have a song called I Don't Love You? I'm saying because I did a Google search and couldn't find even one instance of the search term matching any webpages save for a dynamically generated result page on beemp3.com.

MetalGearMC said on Thursday, 11 November 2010:
On Wikipedia, the article for My Name Is says the track samples two songs: I Got The, of course, and I Don't Love You by Millie Jackson. I can't find the Millie Jackson track anywhere!

Whilst the Snoop one was the only one we both conclusively agreed on, I don't think it should be submitted. It is referring to it, most definitely, but I think it has transformed too much to be a interpolation, spoken vs. rapped, etc.

Jacknife Lee remix of Cleanin' Out My Closet is nice, but doesn't seem official:

"TEACHER TEACHER". What is this, Abbott & Costello?

DJ Anubis said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
Ok, can you just tell me what Slick Rick song we're talking about? I would love to hear the original anyway (even if it's not a "real" sample) ^^

MrBlondNYC said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
"Teacher Teacher". I don't know if it's interesting enough. Maybe if he had quoted more of the lyrics.

DJ Anubis said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
Ow, big discussion... So can we add the Snoop Dogg link, you both seem to agree on that one? In fact, what Slick Rick song are we talking about?? ^^

tick said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
whatevs! :)
Have a listen to the Janne Schaffer track I just put up, some cool s***

MrBlondNYC said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
Any rapper worth a damn is influenced by Slick Rick. Even Amy Winehouse copped some storytelling moves from him. I did listen to the Atmosphere track and it actually sounds there's another song he's referencing because he's using a particular melody. Either way I still disagree. Snoop Dogg you can tell is actually doing an impression of Slick Rick.

tick said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
It's perfectly clear it's a common saying, I'm not disputing that nor that it is used in other songs with no relation at all to the slick rick track. The Snoop track is called Real Talk.

I said I was dubious about the eminem one so if you disagree with me.... :P

Slug from Atrmosphere is heavily influenced by Slick Rick, and has said so himself, have you heard the track? I really think is it undeniable.

MrBlondNYC said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
I am talking about these tracks. My point being that it's a common saying. Thought that was clear. I disagree with you on the Eminem and Atmosphere song. What is Snoop's song titled?

tick said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
Yeah but we are not talking about those tracks, we are talking about these tracks :)
The eminem one I am probably most dubious about, the atmosphere one I am in no doubt about, and the snoop one i would not have thought was if not for the ladidadi line.

p.s I'm not saying they should be linked in the database, in fact I don't think they should.

MrBlondNYC said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
I'm not sure. There's been plenty of songs titled "Teacher Teacher" by acts that I'm sure are not Slick Rick fans. It's a fairly common phrase in America. I'm not sure if it comes from something specific or it's just a reference to a little kid calling for his teacher's attention.

tick said on Friday, 16 July 2010:
Also from Atmosphere - In my Continental

Slick Rick - teacher, teacher, tell me how you do it, it looks kinda easy like there was nothing to it

Eminem - Preacher preacher, fifth grade teacher, You can't reach me, my mom can't neither

Atmosphere - T-t-t-t-t-t-teacher, teacher, how can I learn patience?, Planted in the middle and outside of your nation

Snoop Dog - Teacher, teacher, could u please get some old school rhymes? Can u show them you've not forgotten where you've come from

I'd say they are all relating back to the Slick Rick track, the Atmosphere has the same flow and setup, the eminem one says preacher but then immediately relates it back to teacher., and the Snoop one, whilst being a spoken word sample, with out the flow, talks about where he comes from and then goes on to quote La-di-da-di an obvious nod to Slick Rick.

DJ Anubis said on Thursday, 15 July 2010:
The "Preacher" part reminded me of Snoop saying "Teacher Teacher" in Real Talk (R.I.P. Tookie)... But it's not in the video that's on here... but that will probably be a reference of what you talk about it...

MrBlondNYC said on Thursday, 15 July 2010:
I think Drug Ballad was produced by the Bass Brothers and they usually don't use samples. "Preacher, preacher" reminded me of Slick Rick's "Teacher, Teacher" but I'm not sure if that's an intended reference.

DJ Anubis said on Thursday, 15 July 2010:
Still want to know about Drug Ballad... and no references in Criminal? I'm thinking of that "preacher preacher, fifth grade teacher, you can't reach me, my mom cant neither"... sounds familiar.

jOsSse said on Friday, 28 May 2010:
haha i came here just to know where's that piano from

DJ Anubis said on Tuesday, 20 April 2010:
Isn't that piano hook in Drug ballad a sample (starting at 0:51)? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqmH493JEpA
