WhoSampled.com is the answer to all the sampling questions I've had since being a teenager! Though I've loved music for as long as I can remember, my favorite genres include metal (all types), blues, jazz, drum and bass, dubstep, and hip hop.
I'm fascinated with the way different genres are intertwined, even when on the surface, they may sound completely different. WhoSampled.com is a great way for me to discover the roots of some of my favorite music.
I definitely have a tendency to notice samples in songs, particularly when the same sample is used by multiple artists. Note: I don't necessarily "like" every sample I submit. If I notice it, and it's not in the database, I figure, "Why not contribute it?"
By the way, check out my article about WhoSampled on the Yahoo! Contributor Network: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/6134376/whosampledcom_a_recipe_book_for_modern.html?cat=2
Hoping to meet others with the same interests here, and hoping to contribute a lot to the database!
